Riding a 650 Triumph, legendary Dist. 37 desert and Gran Prix racer, Shamrock MC member Gene Smith, went on to win 2 overall desert races in ‘68 & ‘70 when he was the last Triumph rider to win a desert race overall. Winning 9 Open Exp Class Gran Prix races including 4 at Hopetown, ‘67, ‘70, ‘72, ‘74. He finished 2nd overall in Barstow to Vegas in ‘67, ‘69 and he won the Open Class in 14 desert races. On the winning Greenhorn Enduro team 5 times
